(3930) Radial flow turbine
A type of turbine in which the path of any particle of water in its flow through the runner lies substantially in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation in a generally radial direction, the water being admitted at one radius and discharged at another usually all round the periphery. If the water enters at the inner circumference and discharges at the outer periphery, the turbine is an outward-flow type. If the water enters at the outer periphery and discharges at the inner circumference, it is an inward type.
